Virginia Sarsfield, owner of Handmade Papers Gallery in Brooklin, Maine, has been a production hand paper maker since 1994.

Sarsfield specializes in handmade paper lampshades, which she creates in a rich palette of colors and textures that add a unique luminosity to any lamp.  Lampshade papers are made with beaten kozo or gampi fibers and can be custom colored with fade-resistant, light-fast pigments. Each shade is backed with a specialty-paper liner before it is framed. The finished product will outlive silk or styrene-lined commercial shades.

Working closely with each client, we offer guidance on the size, shape and texture that will maximize the beauty and functionality of each finished piece. Whether you prefer a natural white or a color to match your décor, the perfect lampshade for your favorite lamp is waiting to be discovered.

Stop by the gallery to view our wide variety of papers and frames, or join us on Facebook or Etsy, where we'll keep you posted on special exhibits and events at the gallery, along with the latest on paper colors and styles.
