Acadia Information Center
Who We Are and What We Do
Acadia Information Center is a tourist and business information center. We are located on Route 3 in Trenton, Maine just 300 yards before the bridge crossing to Mount Desert Island, Maine and Acadia National Park. All of the more than 2.5 million visitors to Acadia National Park each year must pass directly in front of our door. We have regional access to Mount Desert Island, Ellsworth, Bucksport, and all of Hancock County, Maine; all of "downeast" Maine; and to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Canada. We have a fully staffed desk year round, and we process between 80,000 and 100,000 visitors a year.
What We Do
We provide state-of-the-art information services that include modern technologies as well as our business customers' creative ideas. These services include standing displays for multiple businesses; a large, visible lodging board listing motels, cottages, bed and breakfasts, inns and campgrounds with real time vacancy information; display and distribution of brochures for all of the businesses who advertise with us; activity displays
with brochures and continuous loop video covering boat tours, bicycling paths and The Cat, ferry to Nova Scotia; and the timely display of posters for many activities.
We distribute free maps of Mount Desert Island, maps of Acadia National Park, street maps of the towns on the island, maps of the Provinces in Atlantic Canada, all chamber of commerce publications, the booklet "Acadia National Park" published by the American Park Network, and several materials giving hiking and camping information on Mount Desert Island. We also distribute free flyers, information sheets and general brochures. We have a fully staffed information counter and a large display area for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, Canada. We have books, brochures, maps and displays of what is available for the tourist in Maritime Canada including the Quoddy Loop in Maine and New Brunswick, Yarmouth and Southwest Nova Scotia, the scenic drives in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and all of the attractions from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia to the Cabot Trail, through New Brunswick and back to Calais, Maine. We assist you in planning day trips to all surrounding areas with special attention to places to stay, shop and visit. We have many backlit displays of motels, inns, hotels and bed and breakfasts, both in the Mount Desert area and in Canada.
