With more than 100 restaurants to choose from on Mount Desert Island, everyone can find a flavor—or two or three (maybe more)—to savor.
You're in Maine, so you'll find lobster galore, along with other fresh catches from the sea: scallops, shrimp, crab, haddock, flounder, clams. And you'll find them prepared all kinds of ways, from simple to exotic. You can even get lobster ice cream here.
But that's not all. Island restaurants know no boundaries, no limits. Diners can feast on tastes from around the world—Mexican, Asian, Italian, Cuban—and on great American dishes. Whether you love a juicy steak or stick to a vegetarian menu—you'll find exactly what you crave.
And every café, pub, and eatery exudes its own special character. While one takes pride in serving locally grown, organic foods, another features mouth-watering original recipes, and many offer spectacular views of Frenchman Bay. There's something new—and delicious—everywhere you go!

A local favorite since 1986, Galyn's offers a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere, attentive service and consistently well-prepared food. Dinner features fresh fish and native seafood, hand-cut steaks, prime rib and more. Reasonably priced salads, sandwiches, soups, and seafood for lunch, plus a special Galley Lounge menu for light dining make Galyn's a great choice any time of day. Galyn's is open daily March - November. Dining rooms open for lunch at 11:30am. Dinner service begins at 4pm. Happy hour upstairs in the Galley Lounge from 3:00-6:00 every afternoon. Reservations are gladly accepted. Galyn's is located at 17 Main Street, just up from the Bar Harbor town pier.

The rocky coast of Maine - with its beautiful, clear, cold water - is home to the best lobster in the world - luscious Maine Lobster! Caught live by local fishermen in and around the bays surrounding Mt Desert Island and brought in daily to our saltwater pound. At the Maine Luau we cook lobster the way it's supposed to be cooked, straight out of the pot - hot, succulent, and plentiful.
