By Land
Car
From Boston follow Interstate 95 through to Bangor (exit 182-A, 395), then pick up Rt. 1A to Ellsworth and follow Rt. 3 to Bar Harbor.
Rental Car
Rentals are available at the Hancock County Airport. Enterprise (207-664-2662) is open May-October, and Hertz (207-667-5017) is open year-round.
Local Transportation
The Island Explorer offers free transportation to hiking trails, beaches, and downtown centers via propane-powered shuttle buses. Stops include many motels, inns, and campgrounds. 207-667-5796.

By Sea
Bar Harbor's island location makes it a popular place for travel by water you can sail in, come by power boat, or take the ferry. Call the Harbormaster's Office to inquire about moorings. 207-288-5571.
