Southwest Harbor

Home of numerous boat builders – from gorgeous wooden friendship sloops to world renowned sailboats to fun and jazzy picnic boats to practical fishing and lobster boats; many of these builders maintain service departments including inside and outdoor storage. The village has many great shops and restaurants as well as a U.S. Coast Guard facility. In Southwest Harbor you'll find Echo Lake, the only freshwater bathing area with full facilities, a beach and lifeguards; canoeing, kayaking, ice fishing, ice sailing; home for many loons; Trails leading up Beech Mountain and Beech Cliff are accessible from the Echo Lake Beach parking lot.
